UK job vacancies reach all time high since Pandemic
With the easing of lockdown measures beginning, employers are beginning to start recruiting, with vacancies up nearly 50,000 quarter on quarter
Latest ONS reports show between February and April 2021, vacancies reached 657,000.
The Office for National Statistics said there are “early signs of recovery” in the jobs market, with the unemployment falling slightly to 4.8% in the three months to March, down from 4.9% in February.
The positive news continues in the SME market, with one third of SMEs expecting to hire in 2021, creating 1.2m jobs in Britain.
Three quarters of SMEs surveyed by Sage are optimistic about the future of their business, influenced significantly by the vaccine rollout, being able to see customers and projections of increased consumer spending.
When looking at future profits for Small to Medium size Enterprises, Sage’s survey suggests that businesses expect to return to pre-pandemic profitability by Q4 2021.
